Properties and Benefits

The aloe vera is a power pack for health and beauty – because the aloe vera gel contains more than 160 active ingredients. Each of these nutrients and vital substances is a precious ingredient that supports important functions of the body. But Aloe Vera owes its special effect to the perfectly coordinated composition of these individual active ingredients.

„The whole is greater than the sum of its parts“ (Aristoteles)

Among the most important ingredients of Aloe Vera are the following active ingredients:

Mono- and Polysaccharides

Mono- and polysaccharides support the body’s metabolic processes, regulate digestion and have anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, antifungal, antiviral and immunostimulant effects.

Polysaccharide contained in the aloe vera, the acemannan. This carbohydrate, which is important for the human organism, is no longer produced by adults and must therefore be supplied through food.

Acemannan

  • Promotes cell respiration and thus activates the entire metabolism
  • Regulates the intestine and regenerates the intestinal flora and thus increases the
  • Absorption capacity of the digestive system for all vital substances.
  • Increases cell activity and thus strengthens the immune system.
  • Is an important building block for vascular walls, skin, tendons and joints.
  • Supports the body in the elimination of allergy-inducing foreign proteins

Amino Acids

The body needs 22 different amino acids for its own synthesis. Of these, 8 are essential amino acids that the body cannot produce itself. If these vital building materials are missing in the diet, this can lead to deficiency symptoms. Aloe Vera contains a total of 20 amino acids, including 7 essential amino acids.

Enzymes

Enzymes are cellular catalysts that enable, accelerate or inhibit chemical processes. They are contained in all cells of the body and play a decisive role in metabolism. The enzymes contained in Aloe Vera Gel support the immune system, digestion and the absorption of nutrients from food and protect against free radicals.

Among others the following enzymes were found in Aloe Vera Gel:

  • Amylases: Digestive enzymes that break down and unravel carbohydrates ingested with food.
  • Bradykinases: has analgesic and anti-inflammatory effects and stimulates the immune system
  • Cellulases:important for the preparation of dietary fibres as they break down cellulose as much as possible
  • Catalases: antioxidant enzymes that protect against free radicals
  • Creatine phosphokinases: are important for the energy production of muscle cells
  • Lipases: Digestive enzymes that cleave fats ingested with food
  • Proteases: Digestive enzymes that break down and unravel proteins ingested with food.

Vitamins

Vitamins are an important component for health and metabolism. Aloe vera contains a wide range of vitamins:

  • Vitamin A:is important for vision, skin and mucous membranes as well as for natural defences and vitality.
  • Vitamin B1: is important for carbohydrate metabolism and strengthens the nervous system, heart activity and muscles.
  • Vitamin B2: is necessary for the breakdown of carbohydrates and the build-up of protein and fat in the body is therefore essential for the provision of energy for the body. It supports healthy skin, hair and nails as well as intestines and liver. It can also have a positive effect on migraine.
  • Vitamin B6: is important for protein metabolism and is of great importance for amino acid metabolism. It also has a positive influence on the nervous system, the hormone balance and the immune system.
  • Vitamin B12: is one of the most important metabolic vitamins. It provides the substances necessary for blood formation and the life-supporting protein metabolism of the nerve cells. It strengthens the nervous system and supports vitality, performance and cell health. It is also important for various processes that strongly influence the brain and mental health and can have a positive effect on these.
  • Folic acid: is important for a healthy heart and circulatory system, cell division and renewal, blood formation, the immune system and counteracts depressive moods, irritability and poor concentration.
  • Niacin: supports fat, protein and carbohydrate metabolism. It is important for energy metabolism, supports the function of the nervous system and contributes to the maintenance of normal mucous membranes and skin. It has a positive effect on the mental balance and can reduce fatigue and tiredness.
  • Vitamins C:supports wound healing, protects the vessels, has an antioxidant effect, activates the immune cells and thus strengthens the immune system. It is important for healthy gums, prevents fatigue and irritability and regulates the release of hormones, including stress hormones.
  • Vitamin E: it has an antioxidant effect and thus protects the cells against the influence of free radicals. It is important for vitality and performance and supports fat and protein metabolism. It strengthens the cell walls, delays the aging process and supports the immune system

Minerals and trace elements

Aloe vera contains many of these valuable micronutrients. They are important components to maintain health and metabolism.

  • Calcium: important for bones and teeth and the control of nerves and muscles and activates enzymes and hormones. In addition, it has a strengthening effect on the heart muscle together with potassium and chromium.
  • Potassium: regulates the water electrolyte balance, plays a role in the carbohydrate and protein metabolism and the transmission of electrical impulses to muscle or nerve cells.
  • Magnesium: regulates nerve-muscle communication and activates about 400 enzymes. It also has a positive effect on stress, as it calms the nervous system.
  • Sodium: regulates the acid-base ratio and water balance and is important for the transmission of nerve impulses.
  • Chloride: supports muscle work and is important for nerve impulses.
  • Iron: is important for the transport of oxygen in the blood, has a positive effect on mood and the immune system and promotes impulse, performance and concentration.
  • Manganese: is important for enzyme formation and activation as well as bone and cartilage. It is also involved in insulin production.
  • Chrome: regulates fat metabolism and controls hunger and satiety.
  • Zinc: plays an important role in the function of different hormones and promotes immune defence. It lifts the mood and ensures healthy skin and can promote healing processes.
  • Copper: is involved in many processes in the body, including hematopoiesis, iron mobilization, energy production, connective tissue formation, and is antioxidant.

Fatty acids

Fatty acids have an anti-inflammatory effect and are therefore responsible for the positive effect of aloe vera on burns, skin injuries and inflammatory processes in the organism. Among others, the following fatty acids are contained in aloe vera.

  • Cholesterol
  • Campesterol
  • Betasitosterol

Secondary plant substances

The secondary plant substances or also serve the plants as defence substances against predators or microbial attack and also act as growth regulators. In the human body, they influence a multitude of metabolic processes and are said to have various health-promoting effects.

Aloe vera contains the following secondary plant substances:

  • Lignins: have a calming and anti-inflammatory effect
  • Saponins: have an antiseptic effect and inhibit the growth of bacteria, viruses, and fungi.
  • Anthraquinones: are bitter compounds with analgesic, antibacterial and antibiotic properties
  • Isoflavonides: have anti-inflammatory effects, activate enzymes and counteract the proliferation of pathogens
  • Essential oils: have a detoxifying and antibiotic effect and stimulate the metabolism.
  • Tannins: have an antibacterial effect in the intestines and support wound healing in burn injuries.
